History

For the past 27 years Options for Women East formerly LifeCare Clinic East, has faithfullyWP_20140709_002 served the surrounding community by providing women and their families in the midst of unintended pregnancies with free alternatives-to-abortion programs. OFWE’s guiding mission since its inception in 1989 has been to support, encourage, and assist women in carrying their pregnancy to term and caring for their baby after birth.

Options for Women East, Inc. (OFWE) was established in the East Metro area of St. Paul, MN. OFWE has been located in the vicinity of White Bear Avenue between Interstate 94 and highway 36 since its inception. OFWE is a member of a federation of women’s pregnancy resource clinics, the Total LifeCare Clinics, Inc. (www.totallifecare.org). Consisting of some 28 clinics in the metro area as well as greater Minnesota and Wisconsin, Total LifeCare Clinics, Inc. defines itself as a “non-profit organization dedicated to the philosophy that every individual has the right to adequate health care, covering all physical, emotional, and social needs, from conception to natural death.”

In the course of 2004, OFWE was able to purchase a 5000 square foot medical building at 891 White Bear Avenue. This space provides the room that OFWE needs to accomplish its mission and allows the organization to offer medical services, material goods supplies and an abundance of literature to its clients. We are located on a busy street, on a bus route and within a densely populated low-income area.
