Options for Women East Staff

Executive Director  Jennifer Meyer, CLCP

 Jennifer has been with Options East for the past 3 1/2 years and the Executive Director since last fall. She has worked with clients as a certified life coach in our Uniquely Me program, been the prenatal case manager following our prenatal patients through their pregnancies, and worked with donors on fundraising efforts. She has a Bachelors in Communications and a Masters in Technical Communications along with extensive non-profit work experience.

She lives in Woodbury with her husband Chris, 3 children, Alex, Sammi, and Hunter and dog, Emma. She enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her family, especially at the cabin.


Medical Director  Dr. Greg Young, M.D.

Dr. Young specializes in family medicine at Hudson Clinic and Hospital.  He has been the Medical Director of Options For Women East clinic for several years. Dr. Young excels at listening to and interacting with his patients and their families.  He is most drawn by the unique opportunity to serve others. 

He loves the four seasons and has several active outdoor pursuits for each one of them while spending nearly every free moment with his wife and children. 

Prenatal Physician  Dr. Timothy Hernandez, M.D.

Tim is a family physician in private practice for the past 29 years in West St. Paul, Minnesota. Tim is a graduate of Carleton College, Mayo Medical School and completed his residency training in family medicine through the University of Minnesota.  He has spent his entire career at his current clinic practicing he full scope of family medicine. Tim is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Family Practice and Community Health at the University of Minnesota.

Tim is the Medical Director for Quality for Entira Family Clinics, a position he has held since 1996 as well as the Medical Director for the Community Health Network ACO.

Tim and his wife, Midge, have 7 children and 12 grandchildren. His hobby for the past 32 years is coaching youth sports. He is currently coaching high school football.

He is excited to serve here at Options for Women East and serve our clients in our Prenatal Care Program.



Prenatal Nurse  Sydney March, R.N.

Sydney has been in the field of healthcare for 8+ years, and a Registered and Public Health Nurse since 2014.

160202_54885_46 - CopyCurrently, she works at Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis, is on the hospital’s Ethic’s Committee, and a Wellness RN with HCMC. She is certified First Aid, CPR, and ACLS. She has interests in critical care and emergency, but has a passion for women’s health.

For enjoyment, Sydney loves to spend time with her husband Mike, family, run marathons, read, bake, and cook – but most of all, loves serving others.



RDMS Lori Niesen

Lori joined our group last December. We are so excited to have her on staff.



Prenatal Nurse Julie Birkeland R.N.

Julie has an Associate’s degree in nursing and a BS in Education.  She is a licensed RN in Minnesota and Wisconsin and has worked in healthcare for the past 14 years.

Julie B.Throughout her nursing career, OB and women’s health have been her primary interest. Past experience has been in an OB/GYN clinic and in the postpartum department of Labor and Delivery. She has also been specifically trained and certified in limited OB ultrasound for the pregnancy medical clinic setting. Working at Project Life in Stillwater for the past 5 years has given her opportunity to support clients during crisis pregnancy situations through the use of ultrasound. She will continue to diversify her experiences by starting one day a week at Options for Women East. Julie is utilizing her passion for teaching by educating clients with her training in breastfeeding/lactation, doula, postpartum depression, pregnancy mood disorders and perinatal issues. Julie believes strongly in the ability of PRCs to empower women to embrace life by providing compassion, support, and education in order to create a better life for themselves and their families. Julie and her husband live in New Richmond, WI.  They have two grown children and love to spend time together outdoors hiking, camping and golfing.



Prenatal Nurse Abby Layer R.N.

Abby joined OFWE this year finding it a great fit to serve her community through nursing. She recently moved to the Twin Cities after spending 8 years in Detroit–5 years working with an urban ministry, and 2 years in public health nursing, providing home visits for pregnant moms and moms with new babies. At OFWE, she values the opportunities to provide free services for those in need, support clients in the challenges they face, and provide fertility education.

Abby lives in St. Paul with her husband and two young children. She enjoys spending her free time hiking, camping, and being outdoors as much as possible with family and friends.

Life Coach Sue Kremer

Sue has been with Options East for the past 2 years. She has started life coaching last fall. We are happy she is now able to work with our clients in this new way.

Life Coach Gina Lokken

Gina joined our team as a Life Coach in January of 2017. Her mission in life and as a leader is to help empower others to realize and pursue their dreams, so that, they can live out the life God intended for them. Gina is actively involved in her church leading a volunteer team on the weekend, leading and volunteering at various church events, and starting up a new small group this fall with her husband for attenders who are interested in leading their own small group. She is passionate about building leaders within the community, and encouraging everyone she meets to live with purposeful-intentionality. Gina is happily married to her husband Erik, and they have 2 children. They enjoy being outdoors as much as possible including going to the cabin, canoeing, fishing trips to Canada, hiking, and road trips.
